This store in Worawat Market sells EVERYTHING! Fabrics as far as the eye can see! Old style tuk tuks Not the sort of thing you expect to see near the bus station As a seasoned traveller he knows all the tricks. Be gone icy blasts of air The final leg of the crossing to the border – a packed songthaew I think this may be something to do with a mid life crisis – worryingly he actually bought this wig!

The final leg of the crossing to the border – a packed songthaew
I think this may be something to do with a mid life crisis – worryingly he actually bought this wig!
For less than 8 quid you too can look like an idiot! Guys! Seriously! Get a new fashion!
Further evidence of the power of the durian – listed right after guns!
We passed controlled fires along the road to Chiang Dao. These are controlled fires? Right?
That’s a lot of garden waste. Not sure Aylesbury tip would be too pleased if I arrived with this!
The hills! We’re getting close to Chiang Dao
Beware of ducks and cats crossing the road – but not a chicken in sight
Home for the next few days
And a lovely home is was too
Sundowners on the first evening – camomile tea how very rock n roll
Filling up on gas the village way
A beautiful morning for an outdoor breakfast
I just can’t resist taking pictures of flowers
The restaurant had its own organic lawnmowers
I always imagine this is how monks live
Baby bananas with the banana flower still attached
A walk in nature to burn off at least some of the hearty breakfast
So much of interest to see along the way
I managed to trick this spider out of his nest – I obviously do a great dying fly impression
The hot springs. The hot spring water is piped into the tubs. The water in the stream on the other hand is freezing!
You can only stay in the hot water for so long before a cold plunge is required. NB the mineral water tarnishes silver!
The village Water Buffalo 🙂
Scrumptious strawberry picking and sumptuous flowers
This is a really rural area and the land is farmed, the hard way – by hand.
Walking through the village we notice basket weaving and a loud speaker for the daily address. I don’t understand a word!
Dinner was going to be mammoth so we walked the scenic route to the restaurant – an hour’s walk can really build the appetite. But more importantly it helps with digestion on the way home 🙂
Did I mention dinner was mammoth! The ‘Nest’s’ Thursday night BBQ is legendary
The temple dogs in quiet contemplation
The magnificent temple contrasted by the morning sun
The monks carry these for alms
This is my most favourite temple view so far
Man’s and natures striking designs side by side
Heading back from the temple and on to breakfast as the sun continues to rise
The days are cooler and the nights are cold – signs of last evenings campfire
What a fabulous place for breakfast……again!
Another, slightly more high tech coin operated, way to fill up on gas
Wow! The view from the house as we packed up to leave. This much open sky just fills you with awe
Homeward bound – a numb bum awaits!!!
No, not Mothers Day. Not even Fathers Day. It’s ‘Kids Day’ back in Chiang Mai
Lovely pictures of you Lul xx
