A gallery exhibition which opened this week. Is this your thing?

This week marked two separate celebrations – both coinciding with the 12th full moon of our year (or the 2nd of the Lanna year). Loi Krathong is when offerings are floated down the river, and Yee Peng is when lanterns are launched into the sky. Both are a show of respect to Buddha, and a way of releasing your problems and worries. Starting a fresh!

A snapshot of the Loi Krathong firework platform across the river

Krathongs for sale throughout the town

The night sky is filled with the lights of the Yee Peng lanterns

Lanterns in their hundreds being released from Nawarat Bridge

And more…..

Needless to say I did not dress for the occasion!

Thanksgiving party with Anne and Thomas and just a few other people 🙂 I ate way too much!

Not sure who’s the happiest in this picture!

Releasing the lanterns was such great fun for the kids……all 10 times!! 🙂

Up, up…..

….and away

My time to let go!

And fireworks

And sparklers

What goes up eventually comes back down. Lots of evidence of the night before

Not sure what this is. Maybe a giant okra?

You get all sorts on the roads here

That’s a lot of croutons! I’m thinking Caesar Salad!

What a cute little pup!

Starter….

…….and mains
